Job Title: Excel Specialist
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract/ full-time
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Excel Specialist who will serve as the backbone of our data operations, translating raw numbers into actionable business intelligence. You will work closely with finance, marketing, and operational teams across Africa to build advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards, and interactive templates from the ground up. This role requires a master of Microsoft Excel’s deep capabilities, including Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, and complex macros. You will be tasked with identifying operational bottlenecks, ensuring 100% data integrity, and training non-technical staff to utilize your custom-built analytical tools.
Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain highly complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and interactive dashboards.
  • Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate repetitive data entry, extraction, and report generation processes.
  • Clean, validate, and merge large datasets from multiple sources (e.g., CRMs, ERPs, and cloud databases) using Power Query and advanced VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP formulas.
  • Build dynamic forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking models to support senior management decisions.
  • Review, audit, and troubleshoot existing Excel files to detect and resolve errors in formulas and data mapping.
  • Translate highly technical data insights into easy-to-read, visual formats, and train cross-functional remote teams across Africa on how to use reporting templates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience specifically focused on data analysis, spreadsheet management, or financial modeling.
  • Expert-level mastery of Microsoft Excel (Advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, and Power Query).
  • Strong, demonstrable experience in creating VBA macros and writing custom scripts.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and top-tier written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, strictly managing deadlines while collaborating across African time zones.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SQL databases, or data visualization principles
