Job Summary

The Head of Finance has overall responsibility for all financial resources of the company. It is essential that the finance leader must be able to drive the control, production and reporting of numbers, as well as be instinctive with what they see in them. They will build a ‘no surprises’ culture, be dynamic and innovative by nature, and be able to quickly gain capability and have an impact when talking to existing and potential investors.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for tracking and monitoring all financial activity within the organization, avoiding unexpected outcomes, whilst appropriately escalating unfortunate events when they occur
  • Develop standardized budgeting and forecasting tools; support the plan and advise the company on strategic risks and opportunities; offer context and conclusions based on financial results, trends and forecasts. Own the annual budgeting process, strategic planning and forecasting cycles
  • Responsible for the treasury management and financial control functions
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy on all reports and financial accounting
  • Develop a high performing team, capable of fulfilling all necessary skillsets
  • Lead the FP&A and Accounting processes and assist in setting strategies and implementing process initiatives
  • Improve and provide data, analytics and thought leadership for the finance aspect of the entire organization. Emphasis on performance improvement, providing quality MI, and further developing scalable reporting systems and processes, analytical tools, key performance metrics
  • Support audit, tax, internal controls and reporting functions. Timely and accurate statutory reporting ensuring local compliance
  • Oversee the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
  • Provide tax, insurance and other reporting required by government regulations
  • Work closely with existing investors, as well as be part of the Mutual Benefits Group team to  secure future investment
  • Provide team leadership and development through mentoring, manpower planning and skill set development


Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Strong grounding - technically sound in understanding complex accounting and financial issues, continually alert and instinctive, and has the ability to resolve them

  • Focus - ability to drive results, goal orientated and takes people with them
  • Impact - the ability to interface and be effective with all levels of associates, management, board, outside auditors, vendors and customers
  • Data - analytical and financial modelling experience
  • Best practice exposure – experience with local and international standards and operation to bring a broader perspective and knowledge
  • Tools – Experience with financial tools, and proven knowledge on how to operate and optimize usage and output
  • Beyond the function - must be able to facilitate cross-functional teams and lead across the company 
  • Compliance – ability and experience to drive regulatory compliance
  • Communication channels - very strong communication, organizational and presentation skills (both internally, and to vendors and customers)

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Approximately 8 years’ relevant experience, with the last 3 in leadership roles
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry is an advantage
