Electrical Reliability Engineer
Job summary
We are seeking an electrical reliability engineer to join our team supporting a major utility client's asset management group. In this role, you will develop, review, and maintain Maintenance Instructions (MIs) for generation assets, including transformers, generators, protection & control systems, and auxiliary plant, following capital project upgrades and ongoing reliability-centered maintenance initiatives. You will work on multiple concurrent projects, interfacing directly with project managers, design engineers, and field maintenance staff.

Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and check Maintenance Instructions (MIs) for generation equipment
- Develop RCM-based and non-RCM maintenance strategies using software and standard MI templates, ensuring alignment with company procedures.
- Perform gap analyses between project documentation packages and applicable maintenance standards, identifying missing FITPs, manuals, drawings, warranty documentation, and regulatory (NERC and related) requirements.
- Review capital project documentation (drawings, BOMs, IFCs, datasheets, existing MIs) to support MI drafting, ensuring every referenced source meets the project's referencing standard (title, number, file name, section, page, table/figure).
- Identify and resolve strategy/code conflicts, failure mode errors, and inspection form issues in draft MIs and spare equipment preloads.
- Coordinate with client roles to progress MI packages through drafting, reviewing, sealing and filing
- Support timesheet and project charge coding across multiple concurrent capital and field-initiated projects.
Requirements:
- Degree in electrical engineering and equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to interpret electrical engineering drawings and schematics is required.
- Experience with Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodology and maintenance strategy development for power generation or utility assets.
- Familiarity with SAP is recommended
- Strong technical writing and document control skills; ability to work with structured referencing standards.
- Working knowledge of applicable reliability and regulatory standards (e.g., NERC PRC) is an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, project management, and field maintenance teams.
- Prior consulting or embedded-client experience in the utility sector is an asset.
- Industry experience in the utility sector or an industrial sector is an asset.
