Project Mechanical Engineer
Job summary
To lead the mechanical execution of new can-making plant by overseeing the installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of advanced production machinery and industrial utility systems. The role is responsible for ensuring the reliable integration and optimal performance of high-speed manufacturing equipment, pneumatic systems, compressors, cooling infrastructure, and piping networks, while delivering world-class mechanical standards, operational efficiency, safety, and long- term plant reliability.

Responsibilities:
- Installation & Commissioning: Supervise and execute the mechanical installation, precision leveling, and geometric alignment of high-speed can-forming and decoration equipment.
- Utilities Infrastructure Management: Oversee the setup of plant auxiliary utilities, including compressed air networks, HVAC systems, water treatment plants, and gas piping.
- Vendor Coordination: Direct OEM installation teams and mechanical sub-contractors during the assembly and dry-run phases of the project.
- Design Validation: Review P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts to identify and eliminate potential operational bottlenecks before installation.
- Safety & Compliance: Guarantee that all mechanical installations meet global manufacturing safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Alignment & Precision Engineering: Ensure high-accuracy alignment of production lines, conveyors, shafts, and mechanical assemblies to meet OEM tolerances and performance requirements.
- Maintenance Strategy Input: Contribute to the development of preventive and predictive maintenance frameworks for installed mechanical systems.
- Energy & Efficiency Optimisation: Identify opportunities to improve mechanical system efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and enhance equipment lifecycle performance.
- Interface Management: Coordinate with civil, electrical, automation, and process engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of all plant systems.
- Problem Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical failures installation defects, and performance issues during installation and commissioning phases.
- Technical Documentation Management: Review and approve method statements, technical submittals, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports.
- Integrated Management System: Documents, implements, and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety management systems.
Requirements:
- A minimum of an HND in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- COREN registration or equivalent professional association is required.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in equipment installation, plant piping, and utility setups within high-speed manufacturing environments (FMCG, packaging, or heavy industry).
- A precision-driven professional who values millimeter accuracy, understands thermodynamics and fluid mechanics deeply, and thrives under project deadlines.
