Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Operate Lucas Mill circular sawmills safely and efficiently.
- Cut logs into timber, planks, and boards according to required measurements.
- Assist with loading, positioning, and securing logs for sawing.
- Measure and check timber sizes to ensure accuracy.
- Carry out basic cleaning and routine maintenance of the sawmill.
- Identify and report machine faults or safety issues.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Follow all safety procedures when operating machinery and handling timber.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
- Technical school training is an advantage
- Previous experience operating a sawmill is an advantage.
- Carpentry or woodworking experience is an added advantage.
- Ability to measure timber and follow cutting instructions.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
- Must be hardworking, safety-conscious, and reliable.
