Project Electrical Engineer
Job summary
To lead the design, installation, and commissioning of the electrical and automation systems for new can-making plant in the new site, ensuring a robust, safe, and highly reliable power infrastructure. The role is responsible for delivering end-to-end electrical systems, including high-voltage substations, power distribution networks, PLC-bassed automation, control systems, and instrumentation, to enable uninterrupted, efficient, and fully automated 24/7 manufacturing operations in line with world-class engineering standards.

Responsibilities:
- Power Infrastructure Setup: Manage the installation and commissioning of high/medium voltage substations, transformers, switchgears, and power generation systems.
- Automation & Controls Integration: Oversee the deployment of plant automation infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication between SCADA networks, PLC panels, and individual field instruments.
- Cable Routing & Distribution: Supervise all industrial cabling layouts, motor control centers (MCCs), and earthing/lightning protection installations across the site.
- Testing & Compliance: Lead pre-commissioning loop checks, insulation resistance tests, and relay coordinations to guarantee absolute electrical safety.
- SLA & Contractor Management: Supervise electrical sub-contractors and OEM automation engineers during critical integration and powering-up phases.
- Power Load Management: Conduct load calculations and demand analysis to ensure correct system sizing and reliable energy supply for plant operations.
- Backup Power Systems: Oversee installation of generators, UPS systems, and battery backup solutions to guarantee uninterrupted operations.
- Instrumentation & Calibration: Supervise installation and calibration of field instruments to ensure accurate process measurement and control.
- PLC & SCADA Oversight: Validate PLC programming and SCADA configurations to ensure reliable automation and system communication.
- Power Quality Management: Monitor harmonics, voltage stability, and power quality to optimise system efficiency and reliability.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce electrical safety standards including LOTO procedures, arc flash protection, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): Validate equipment performance after installation to ensure full compliance with design specifications.
- Troubleshooting & Fault Resolution: Diagnose and resolve electrical faults and system failures during installation and commissioning.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify electrical risks during installation and commissioning and implement preventive controls.
- Integrated Management System: Documents, implements,maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety management systems.
Requirements:
- A minimum of an HND in electrical, electronic, or instrumentation engineering.
- Professional registration (COREN/NSE) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years’ industrial electrical projects, power distribution design, or automation commissioning within high-speed continuous manufacturing or large industrial settings.
- A systems thinker with an analytical approach to complex circuitry and industrial automation networks, prioritizing electrical safety above all.
Key KPIs:
- Successful energisation of substations and MV/LV distribution networks on schedule.
- 100% Accuracy on Loop Checks and Control Automation Integrations during.
- Zero Electrical Incidents or Near-Misses during construction and commissioning.
