Project Civil Engineer
Job summary
To lead the end-to-end civil and structural execution of new can-making plant by driving world-class design coordination, structural engineering oversight, and construction management. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, durable, and high-quality infrastructure capable of supporting high-speed industrial operations and heavy vibratioion machinery, while delivering the project in line with engineering standards, timelines, and business objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Engineering Oversight: Review, validate, and optimize civil and structural engineering designs, ensuring compliance with international industrial standards and local building regulations.
- Construction Leadership: Lead the on-site execution of all civil works, from mass earthworks and heavy equipment machine foundations to structural steel erections and specialized floor coatings.
- Contractor & Vendor Management: Manage main civil contractors, ensuring strict adherence to engineering drawings, milestone schedules, and quality checklists.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Resolve real-time structural anomalies, soil conditions, and site layout challenges without delaying the master project timeline.
- Quality Assurance & Safety: Implement zero-compromise QA/QC frameworks and rigorous site safety protocols across all civil works.
- Project Planning & Coordination: Develop and monitor detailed civil execution plans, work schedules, resource allocation, and project milestones to ensure timely delivery of all construction activities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, production, and utility teams to ensure seamless integration of civil infrastructure with plant equipment and operational systems.
- Cost Control & Budget Management: Track project expenditures, validate contractor claims, and optimize construction costs without compromising quality, safety, or project timelines.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify construction risks, potential structural failures, and environmental challenges early, while implementing proactive mitigation strategies to prevent disruptions.
- Regulatory & Compliance Management: Ensure all civil works comply with statutory approvals, environmental regulations, HSE standards, and corporate engineering policies.
- Material & Technical Specification Management: Review and approve construction materials, technical submittals, shop drawings, and method statements to ensure alignment with project standards
- Sustainability & Infrastructure Optimisation: Drive sustainable construction practices and recommend innovative engineering solutions that enhance plant durability, efficiency, and long-term operational performance.
- Resource & Workforce Management: Supervise site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure productivity, discipline, and adherence to project execution standards.
- Progress Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed project progress reports, technical documentation, inspection records, and management updates for key stakeholders and leadership review.
- Integrated Management System: Documents, implements, and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety management systems.
Requirements:
- A minimum of an HND in civil or structural engineering or a related discipline.
- COREN registration or corporate membership in NSE is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct experience managing civil works on large-scale industrial projects, greenfield factory setups, or heavy manufacturing infrastructure.
- Exceptional structural eye, comfortable navigating complex blueprints, and unyielding on structural safety and execution quality.
