Job summary
Scotts Legal seeks a called-to-bar NYSC Associate with interest & basic experience in tech law. Role involves legal research, drafting, advisory, and client support at the intersection of law and technology during the service year.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Conduct legal research on diverse practice areas, with a focus on technology law, including data protection, software licensing, e-commerce regulations, and emerging tech compliance.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, commercial agreements, terms of service, privacy policies, and technology-related contracts.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms , and legal practice regulations.
- Provide legal opinions and advisory support to clients in the tech sector, including startups, fintech companies, and digital service providers.
- Support due diligence and compliance matters, particularly those involving tech transactions, data privacy assessments, and regulatory filings.
- Participate in client management, taking instructions and preparing case summaries or transaction updates.
- Perform any other legal or administrative tasks assigned during the service year.
- Must be formally called to the Nigerian Bar before commencement of the NYSC program.
- Eligible for or currently deploying for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and able to serve at Scotts Legal as a corps member.

- LL.B from a recognized university, BL from the Nigerian Law School.
- Demonstrated interest in technology law through coursework, internships, personal projects, writing samples, or certifications.
- At least a short internship, volunteer role, or academic exposure involving tech-related legal work.
- Comfortable using legal research databases, document management systems, and collaboration tools.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Basic understanding of Nigerian technology law landscape (e.g., NITDA Act, Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, CBN fintech guidelines).
- Ability to draft clear, concise, and commercially practical legal documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
- Willingness to work beyond regular hours when required for court appearances or client needs.
