Job summary
The commodities trader (financial) assumes day-to-day trading activities, which include executing trading activities based on trading plans, portfolio positions and market conditions. He/She should have a sound understanding of commodity/financial/derivative markets that supports portfolio optimisation and trading activities.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Conducts daily market research based on the various platforms
- Conduct a technical analysis on all commodities being traded
- Prepare the Weekly and Daily Trading Plans
- Monitor the markets continuously to identify trends and how the trends change
- Record and monitor the portfolio positions and ensure that the portfolio is positive at all times
- Prepare daily trading and reconciliation reports.
- Manage Hedges for Physical Commodities being produced by the organisation
- Financial modelling and valuation – prepare financial models for the physical and financial side of the business using assumptions and real-life data.
- Ensure all risk management processes are followed
- Ensure total compliance with regulations, standards, and market requirements for the derivatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of trading experience in financial markets or commodities.
- A sound working knowledge of charting tools like Metastock, TradingView, etc.
- Good working knowledge of price patterns and how to draw and establish patterns in a rapidly changing market.
- Perform trend analysis daily on the various trading platforms.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in trading software and tools, excellent decision-making abilities, and a solid understanding of financial markets and instruments.
- Ability to work under pressure, quick thinking, detail-oriented, and excellent communication skills.
