Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function within our growing renewable energy company. This role is perfect for someone with experience in building HR structures in startup environments, especially in Chinese-led organizations. The HR Manager will shape company culture, drive talent acquisition, develop people strategies, implement HR systems, and ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws. You will serve as a strategic partner to leadership while executing core HR functions.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:


Strategic HR Leadership

  • Design and implement scalable HR strategies aligned with the company’s rapid growth and operational goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the leadership team on people-related matters, including workforce planning, culture, and talent development.
  • Build and maintain HR frameworks, policies, and processes in line with local regulations and international best practices.


Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead and optimize the recruitment process across all functions (technical, Sales, & Admin).
  • Forecast headcount needs in collaboration with department heads.
  • Champion employer branding initiatives to attract top-tier talent within the renewable energy sector.
  • Oversee the Talent Acquisition Officer and ensure successful delivery on recruitment KPIs.


Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Implement a robust performance evaluation framework tailored to different job levels and functions.
  • Develop and manage learning and development programs to enhance employee capability and retention.
  • Coach managers on giving feedback, conducting reviews, and driving team performance.


Employee Relations & Culture Building

  • Promote a transparent, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for grievance handling and disciplinary issues.
  • Foster cross-cultural understanding between Chinese expatriates and local employees.

 

Compensation, Benefits & Attendance

  • Ensure competitive and equitable compensation structures.
  • Supervise attendance, payroll input, and benefits administration.
  • Analyze HR metrics to inform compensation planning and workforce cost optimization.


Compliance & Policy Development

  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with audit and compliance standards.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • CIPM/CIPD certification is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven experience building HR departments from scratch or working in startup environments.
  • Prior experience working with a Chinese-led organization or Chinese expatriate leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Industry knowledge or exposure to renewable energy, manufacturing, or technical industries is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian labor laws and statutory requirements.
