The Head of Advisory & Deal Origination will be responsible for leading and expanding the company's advisory services, with a primary focus on identifying, cultivating, and securing new deal opportunities. This senior role requires a proven track record in financial advisory. corporate finance, and business development, coupled with strong leadership skills to drive strategic growth and deliver exceptional client solutions.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for advisory services and deal origination, aligned with the company's overall growth objectives.
  • Lead the identification, prospecting, and cultivation of new advisory mandates and investment opportunities across various sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, prospective clients, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders to generate a robust deal pipeline.
  • Oversee the entire deal origination process, from initial contact and pitch development to proposal submission, negotiation, and mandate closing.
  • Lead and manage advisory projects, including financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
  • Provide expert financial and strategic advice to clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, corporate restructuring, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Investment Management, Fund Sales, and Research teams to identify synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, teasers, investment decks, and other client-facing documents.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and new advisory service offerings.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the advisory and deal origination team.
  • Ensure all advisory engagements and deal origination activities comply with relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client pitches.
  • Provide regular, comprehensive reports on deal pipeline, origination performance, market insights, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance the overall advisory service offering and streamline the deal origination process through innovation and best practices.
  • Provide ad hoc reports and status on responsibilities as required.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across functions in a fast-paced environment, able to provide solutions to issues.
  • Stay current on best practices and the latest thinking regarding financial advisory, deal origination, and market trends.

Requirements:
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
  • A master's degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, ACCA, ACA) are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years demonstrated experience in financial advisory, corporate finance, investment banking, or a senior business development role with a focus on deal origination.
  • Proven track record of successfully originating, structuring, and executing complex financial advisory mandates and transactions.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, valuation methodologies, and corporate finance principles.
  • A strong existing network within the financial industry, corporate sector, and investor community is a significant advantage.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with an assertive, clear, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strategic thinking, decision-making, and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively design and present complex financial information and strategies to senior management and diverse client audiences.
  • High agility and ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
  • Results-oriented with a strong drive for business development and client acquisition.

Remuneration: NGN 18 million and above annual gross (depending on qualifications and experience, open to negotiation)

Location: Lagos
