Fleet/Operations Manager
Job summary
The Fleet Manager is accountable for the full lifecycle management, operational readiness, safety, and cost‑efficiency of the company’s fleet of luxury cars and coaster buses operating in Lagos and surrounding regions. This senior operational role combines strategic planning (acquisition, replacement, utilization) with day‑to‑day leadership of maintenance, drivers and dispatch to deliver reliable, premium transportation services while meeting all regulatory, safety, and commercial objectives.

Responsibilities:
Fleet Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement a multi-year fleet strategy
- Forecast fleet requirements based on demand, seasonality, corporate contracts and events
- Produce CAPEX and OPEX plans and lifecycle cost models (total cost of ownership)
Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Lead sourcing, negotiation and procurement of vehicles, spare parts, tyres, consumables and vendor services
- Manage relationships with OEM Suppliers and dealerships and all other stakeholders
Maintenance & Asset Care:
- Design and operate preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance programs for cars and coasters to minimize downtime
- Oversee workshop operations (in‑house or outsourced)
- Implement vehicle inspection checklists, pre/post-trip checks, and standardize quality presentation for luxury clients (interior presentation, odor control, amenities stock).
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management:
- Ensure all vehicles and operations comply with Nigerian regulations (FRSC, Lagos State traffic laws)
- Develop and enforce HSE policies: accident/incident reporting, root‑cause investigations, corrective action plans, driver duty hours and fatigue management.
- Manage insurance claims, third‑party incident handling, and loss prevention strategies.
Operations, Scheduling & Dispatch:
- Oversee vehicle allocation, dispatch and routing for airport transfers, corporate contracts, short/long hire and charter services
- Use "ride-hailing software” data to reduce idle time, improve response times, and control fuel usage.
- Coordinate emergency response and backup vehicle provisioning for service failures.
People Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, valets, and yard staff.
- Implement competency frameworks and certification requirements
- Develop driver programs focused on customer service for luxury clientele, defensive driving, PSV compliance and vehicle care
- Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews and handle disciplinary processes
Data, Systems & Reporting:
- Manage/implement "ride-hailing software” and maintain and manage the systems and asset registers.
- Maintain accurate records: VINs, registrations, insurance, maintenance history, depreciation schedules, mileage, and accident logs.
- Deliver regular management reports and dashboards on utilization, availability, maintenance cost per km, TCO, downtime, and safety metrics.
Customer Experience & Quality:
- Ensure vehicles handed to customers meet luxury standards (cleanliness, functioning amenities, privacy/discretion).
- Work with Sales and Customer Service to support bespoke requests (VIP transfers, event logistics).
- Respond to client feedback relating to fleet quality and implement corrective actions.
Financial Controls:
- Monitor and control fleet budgets: fuel, maintenance, tires, spares, insurance, and licensing costs.
- Track and report TCO, cost per km, and depreciation, and implement cost reduction initiatives (fuel efficiency, route optimization, and vendor renegotiation).
- Provide inputs to monthly/quarterly financial close and asset accounting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Transport Management,
- Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ progressive fleet management or transport operations experience, with at least 2 years managing mixed fleets including buses and passenger cars.
- Experience in luxury/hospitality or corporate transport is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian transport regulatory environment (FRSC, Lagos State regulations, PSV licensing where applicable, and vehicle importation/clearing procedures).
- Proven supplier negotiation and contract management experience (insurers).
- Experience implementing/using fleet management and maintenance systems and Excel/BI reporting tools.
- Clean driving record; valid Nigerian driver’s license.
- A PSV license is an advantage for bus operations.
- Residence on the island is most preferable.
