Job Summary

A Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail store, ensuring smooth business processes, maximising sales, and delivering excellent customer service. They manage staff, inventory, store appearance, and operational efficiency while implementing strategies to improve revenue and customer experience.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Sales & Revenue Growth:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve store targets.
  • Analyse sales performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement promotions, discounts, and marketing campaigns to drive sales.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and market trends.


Customer Experience & Service Excellence:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional service.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations professionally.
  • Train staff in customer service best practices.
  • Maintain a welcoming and engaging store environment.


Team Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor sales associates.
  • Schedule shifts and manage staff productivity.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Foster a team-oriented culture with clear communication.


Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.
  • Monitor and reduce stock shrinkage (theft, damage, mismanagement).
  • Coordinate with suppliers and warehouse teams for deliveries.
  • Implement inventory control measures to optimise stock turnover.


Store Operations & Compliance:

  • Maintain store cleanliness, organisation, and visual merchandising standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational SOPs.
  • Oversee cash handling, POS operations, and daily sales reconciliation.
  • Conduct regular store audits and resolve operational issues.


Reporting & Business Analysis:

  • Generate sales, inventory, and customer reports for management.
  • Analyse key performance metrics (KPIs) to identify trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve store performance.
  • Implement business intelligence tools for data-driven decision-making.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or HND Retail Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in retail management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency in retail management software (POS, inventory, CRM).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
