Role Description

The Logistics Coordinator will oversee and optimize end-to-end logistics operations for Afribiotech Limited across China, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. This role will focus on negotiating competitive logistics rates, managing customs clearance, coordinating domestic deliveries, and working closely with third-party warehouses such as Konga and other fulfillment centers to ensure efficient storage and distribution.


Key Responsibilities

International Logistics Management

Coordinate shipments from China to Nigeria, China to Sierra Leone, and Nigeria to Sierra Leone.

Negotiate best-in-market freight rates with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.

Determine the most cost-effective shipping options (sea, air, consolidation).

Track shipments and provide real-time updates to management.


Customs Clearance & Compliance

Manage customs clearance processes in China, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

Work with customs agents and brokers to ensure timely clearance and regulatory compliance.

Prevent demurrage, detention, and unnecessary penalties through proactive clearance management.

Ensure accurate documentation, tariff classification, and duty/tax payments.


Domestic Logistics & Distribution (Nigeria & Sierra Leone)

Coordinate inland transportation from Lagos to Northern Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria, and South-South regions.

Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local logistics providers for trucking and last-mile delivery.

Monitor delivery timelines, cargo handling, and cost efficiency.


Warehouse & Third-Party Fulfillment Coordination

Coordinate with third-party warehouses and fulfillment partners (e.g., Konga, 3PL providers, bonded warehouses).

Manage inbound and outbound cargo to and from warehouses.

Ensure proper stock handling, storage, dispatch scheduling, and inventory reconciliation.

Monitor warehouse performance, storage costs, and service-level agreements (SLAs).

Resolve discrepancies, damages, or delays involving warehouse partners.


Cost Reduction & Optimization

Analyze logistics and warehousing costs to identify inefficiencies and savings opportunities.

Benchmark freight, trucking, and warehouse rates regularly.

Implement cost-control strategies to reduce logistics waste, particularly on China–Nigeria routes.

Provide cost comparison reports and recommendations before shipment execution.


Vendor & Relationship Management

Build strong working relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, trucking companies, and warehouse operators.

Periodically renegotiate rates and service terms with logistics and warehouse partners.

Evaluate vendor performance based on cost, delivery timelines, and service quality.


Reporting & Communication

Provide regular shipment, delivery, and warehouse status reports.

Prepare logistics and cost-saving performance reports for management.

Proactively communicate risks, delays, and solutions.


Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

3–5 years of hands-on logistics experience, preferably in China–Africa trade.

Proven experience negotiating freight, trucking, and warehouse rates.

Experience working with third-party warehouses or fulfillment centers (e.g., Konga, 3PLs).

Strong understanding of Nigerian customs, ports, and inland distribution.


Skills & Competencies

Strong negotiation and cost-control skills.

Experience managing multiple logistics and warehouse partners.

Solid understanding of shipping and customs documentation.

Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics tracking systems.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Reduction in total logistics and warehousing costs.

Reduction in total logistics cost from China to Nigeria by sea ( Very important for this role)

Timely customs clearance with minimal penalties.

Improved delivery timelines across Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Effective coordination with warehouse partners.

Reduced losses, damages, and logistics wastage.
