Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to lead fundraising efforts targeting U.S.-based foundations, corporations, and international development partners. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, preparing high-quality proposals, and ensuring compliance with U.S. and international funding requirements.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Research and identify funding opportunities from U.S.-based foundations, corporations, and bilateral donors.
- Develop and maintain a grant calendar with deadlines and submission milestones.
- Write, edit, and submit letters of inquiry, concept notes, and full proposals.
- Prepare supporting documents such as budgets, organizational profiles, and cover letters.
- Coordinate with program staff to gather/improve/modify or collate project data, impact metrics, and beneficiary stories.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
- Track submitted proposals and provide follow-up communications to funders.
- Maintain an organized database of proposals, deadlines, and funder contacts.
- Contribute to donor reports and impact documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, International Development, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience writing successful grants for nonprofits (preferably targeting U.S. funders).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of U.S. nonprofit and foundation funding structures.
- Experience using grant research tools such as Candid/Foundation Directory Online, GrantWatch, or Instrumentl (preferred).
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working remotely.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship or U.S.-Nigeria nonprofit partnerships.
- Familiarity with monitoring & evaluation frameworks and impact reporting.
- Prior success in securing U.S grants.
- Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Airtable, or Notion.
Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Number of proposals submitted per month
- Funding value secured per quarter.
- Proposal acceptance or shortlist rate.
- Timeliness and quality of submissions.
- Donor satisfaction and follow-up effectiveness.
