Shipping and Commercial Manager

Responsibilities:

Commercial Strategy & Business Development:

• Develop and implement strategic business plans to drive revenue growth and expand market share.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships and client acquisition.
• Manage and negotiate contracts, freight rates, and service agreements with clients, suppliers, and shipping lines.
• Conduct market analysis to identify trends, pricing strategies, and competitive positioning.

Shipping Operations & Logistics Management:

• Oversee vessel operations, cargo handling, and port logistics to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Coordinate with port authorities, shipping agents, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor and optimize fleet utilization, scheduling, and routing to enhance operational efficiency.

Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure all maritime and shipping regulations, including international and local laws, are adhered to.
• Implement and monitor safety, quality, and environmental standards in operations.
• Develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential operational and financial risks.

Financial & Performance Management:

• Manage budgeting, cost control, and financial performance of the shipping operations.
• Analyze financial reports and KPIs to assess profitability and operational effectiveness.
• Develop strategies to optimize costs while maintaining high service quality.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

• Lead and mentor operational and commercial teams to drive performance and efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business
• Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree/MBA is an advantage).
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the shipping industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of shipping operations, freight forwarding, chartering, and port logistics.
• Proven experience in business development, contract negotiations, and financial management.
• Familiarity with maritime laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
