Job Summary

The Fashion Production and Procurement professional will be responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain for fashion products, material sourcing, supplier negotiation, overseeing manufacturing and ensuring timely delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of garment construction, fabric knowledge and quality control in fashion.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:


Sourcing and Supplier Management:

  • Material Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and source high-quality fabrics, trims, embellishments, hardware, and other production materials, aligning with design specifications, brand aesthetics, and sustainability goals.
  • Supplier Identification & Evaluation: Research and onboard new suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors (both local and international) based on quality, cost-effectiveness, ethical practices, and production capabilities.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost savings, favorable terms, and value for the company without compromising quality.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluate tailor performance regularly based on quality, delivery, cost, and service levels. Resolve any disputes or issues promptly.


Production Planning and Oversight:

  • Production Scheduling: Develop and manage detailed production timelines and critical paths to ensure on-time delivery of products.
  • Resource Allocation: Assess and allocate necessary human and material resources for efficient production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design, merchandising, and sales teams to understand and anticipate material needs, product requirements, and production forecasts.
  • Manufacturing Oversight: Oversee the entire production process, from pattern making and sampling to cutting, sewing, finishing, and packaging.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues, delays, or challenges promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and implement strategies to streamline production processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce waste (e.g., lean manufacturing techniques).


Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce rigorous quality control checks at various stages of production, ensuring all products meet the brand's standards and specifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement and production activities comply with industry regulations, ethical sourcing policies, labor laws, and company policies.
  • Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of materials and finished goods to ensure adherence to quality benchmarks.


Inventory Management:

  • Stock Monitoring: Monitor stock levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Replenishment: Implement timely restocking procedures to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory databases, conduct regular physical inventory checks, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Waste Reduction: Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste, damage, and loss.


Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage procurement and production budgets, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on procurement costs, inventory status, supplier performance, production progress, and material usage trends.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of procurement transactions, inventory movements, and material consumption.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Fashion Design, Fashion Production, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fashion production, procurement, or a combined role.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, embellishment techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with production management software/tools and inventory management systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
