Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
School Leadership & Operations:
- Provide strategic direction for the school, ensuring alignment with DSFN’s mission and educational goals.
- Oversee daily school operations, ensuring efficiency in administration, compliance, and safety.
- Supervise and support teachers, therapists, and the school’s support staff to maintain high-quality education and care for students.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Education, Deputy Head of Education, and Safeguarding Focal Person to ensure smooth academic and administrative operations.
- Develop and implement programs and curriculum modifications to enhance student learning and inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with relevant education policies, disability laws, and safeguarding regulations.
- Manage school resources effectively, ensuring optimal use of facilities and materials.
Human Resources & Staff Management:
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of all school staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations for educational staff, provide mentorship, and implement staff training programs.
- Address HR-related matters, including conflict resolution and staff welfare, and recommend disciplinary action as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that aligns with DSFN’s values.
- Implement best practices in school operations, including health and safety protocols.
Student Achievement & Inclusive Learning:
- Oversee the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for all students.
- Ensure student progress is effectively tracked and documented beyond IEPs, incorporating life skills and academic achievements.
- Meet regularly with teachers and therapists to assess student progress in key areas such as communication, motor skills, and social development.
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to adapt teaching methods for students with intellectual disabilities.
Parental Engagement & Communication:
- Maintain strong and consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and school initiatives.
- Organize structured feedback sessions at least once per term to discuss student development with parents.
- Plan and facilitate bi-monthly workshops and support groups for parents to enhance their engagement with their children’s education.
- Gather feedback from parents through annual satisfaction surveys and implement improvements based on results.
Safeguarding & Child Protection:
- Ensure the implementation and enforcement of safeguarding policies in compliance with national and international standards.
- Ensure that school staff complete annual safeguarding and child protection training.
- Maintain detailed records of safeguarding incidents and ensure timely reporting to the National Administrator.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in school leadership, administration, or HR management, preferably in a special education setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive education, disability rights, and child protection policies.
- Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and manage school operations effectively.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and promoting inclusive education.
