Inventory Officer
Job summary
The Inventory Officer is responsible for managing and controlling stock within the supermarket, ensuring accurate inventory records, proper stock levels, minimal losses, and efficient coordination between the store, sales, and accounts.

Responsibilities:
Stock Management & Control:
- Maintain accurate records of all stock received, issued, and transferred
- Ensure proper documentation of goods inward and outward (GRN, issue notes, etc.)
- Monitor stock levels and initiate re-order processes when necessary
Stock Reconciliation:
- Conduct regular physical stock counts (daily, weekly, and monthly)
- Reconcile physical stock with system records and investigate discrepancies
- Report stock variances, damages, or losses to management promptly
Inventory Monitoring:
- Track fast-moving, slow-moving, and obsolete items
- Monitor product expiry dates and ensure timely removal of expired goods
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out)
Storage & Handling:
- Ensure goods are properly stored to prevent damage, theft, or spoilage
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the store/stockroom
- Supervise the proper handling of goods during loading and offloading
Reporting:
- Prepare regular inventory reports for management (stock levels, variances, usage trends)
- Provide data to support purchasing and sales decisions
Coordination:
- Work closely with Sales Representatives, Shop-Floor Supervisor, and Accountant
- Support stock-taking exercises and audits
- Liaise with suppliers during deliveries when required
Compliance & Loss Prevention:
- Ensure adherence to internal control procedures
- Support loss prevention and shrinkage control initiatives
- Comply with company policies and lawful management directives
Requirements:
- Minimum of OND / HND / BSc in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory, storekeeping, or retail operations
- Basic knowledge of inventory systems and stock control processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (inventory tracking)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
