Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Grammar and Vocabulary: Introduce Yoruba grammar rules, and sentence structures, and expand students' vocabulary.
  • Listening and Speaking: Provide opportunities for students to practice conversational skills, pronunciation, and listening comprehension.
  • Cultural Context: Educate students about Yoruba culture, traditions, customs, proverbs, and historical background.
  • Literature: Introduce Yoruba literature, folktales, and contemporary writings to enhance language skills and cultural understanding.
  • Cultural Activities: Organize cultural events, celebrations, and activities to immerse students in Yoruba culture.
  • Assessment: Evaluate students' language proficiency through assessments, assignments, and tests.


Requirements:

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Yoruba is essential, including a strong command of grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances.
  • Teaching Background: A degree in Education, Linguistics, Yoruba Studies, or a related field, along with teaching certification, is valuable.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to convey language concepts and cultural aspects effectively to diverse learners.
  • Cultural Knowledge: Deep understanding of Yoruba culture, traditions, history, and literature.
  • Pedagogical Skills: Develop engaging lesson plans, incorporate interactive activities, and foster a positive learning environment.
