Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Take raw narration and documentary scripts and turn them into compelling video essays using stock footage, news clips, AI visuals, motion graphics, and title cards.
- Design simple, effective animations to visually represent complex ideas (maps, timelines, suspect webs, etc.).
- Interpret narrative pacing and dramatic arcs from scripts and enhance with visual tension, rhythm, and symbolism.
- Research, find, and compile relevant stock footage, news clips, documentary B-roll, AI-generated assets, and verified Creative Commons media to support the script.
- Balance dialogue, SFX, and background music for professional-grade audio; ensure smooth transitions, avoid clipping, and preserve emotional tone.
- Select and integrate copyright-free music and sound effects appropriate to tone and mood using channels such as Epidemic Sound, Artlist, or similar.
- Occasionally assist in asset preparation or motion overlays for thumbnails.
- Ensure final videos meet YouTube best practices (formatting, pacing, readability) and are delivered ready for upload in 4K/1080p.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (or DaVinci Resolve/Fusion if preferred) or other high-powered video editing tools.
- Skilled in creating basic to intermediate motion graphics (text animation, lower-thirds, callouts, overlays, visual metaphors)
- Experience using color grading, audio balancing, and noise reduction plugins (like Izotope RX or built-in tools)
- Solid understanding of audio mixing and mastering for dialogue and SFX-heavy videos
- Fluent in media management and fast organization of large libraries of assets
- A strong portfolio of narrative edits (YouTube documentaries, short films, video essays, or branded storytelling)
- Proven storytelling instincts and understands pacing, emotional beats, and tension building
- Experience working from scripts or voiceovers with little supervision
- Good taste in soundtracks that match the story tone (crime, mystery, suspense, drama)
- Able to work in sync with Creative Director and the Scriptwriting team on revisions and direction notes
- Comfortable receiving feedback and making thoughtful iterations quickly
- Must own or have access to licensed stock footage/music platforms or know how to use copyright-free alternatives legally.
