Experience:
- Portfolio of Previous Wedding Edits: This gives an insight into their style, storytelling capability, and technical skills.
- References: Previous clients can provide feedback on the editor's professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Editing Software: Familiarity with programs like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Color Correction and Grading: Ability to correct and enhance footage colors for consistency and mood.
Audio Editing:
- Skill in adjusting, cleaning, and enhancing audio. Often, live audio from weddings (like vows) is crucial.
Storytelling Ability:
- Narrative Flow: It’s not just about stringing clips together; it's about telling a story. An editor should be able to create a seamless flow that captures the essence of the day.
- Music Selection: Ability to choose appropriate music that complements the emotions of the captured moments.
Attention to Detail:
- Check for subtle elements in their past work, such as transitions, syncing music beats with cuts, and ensuring there are no mistakes or glitches.
Creativity and Style:
- Each editor will have a unique style. Ensure it aligns with what you or your clients are looking fo
- A good editor can adapt their style to suit different themes or preferences.
Understanding of Wedding Traditions:
- Weddings often have cultural or religious practices. An editor with an understanding or willingness to learn about these can craft a more respectful and accurate narrative.
Communication Skills:
- Candidate should be able to understand client requirements, take feedback constructively, and make necessary changes efficiently.
Timeliness and Reliability:
- Weddings are time-sensitive. Ensure that they can meet deadlines and are dependable.
- Knowledge of Motion Graphics and Effects (optional but beneficial):
- Ability to create or integrate titles, animations, or special effects that enhance the final video.
Stability and Backup Systems:
- Ensure they have a system in place for backing up footage so no precious moments are lost.
Cultural Sensitivities:
- If you're serving a diverse clientele, an editor who is culturally sensitive and adaptable is crucial.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Sometimes footage may not be perfect due to unforeseen issues on the wedding day. A good editor can work around these challenges.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)
Remuneration: NGN 300,000 - 500,000 per month
