Job Summary

The SEN Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success. This role requires a commitment to structured lesson planning, individualized learning strategies, and collaboration with colleagues, parents, and support services.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:
As a Subject Teacher:
  • Develop and maintain subject materials in alignment with curriculum objectives.
  • Organize and update subject files as required by the Head of Department (HOD).
  • Regularly update the scheme of work and teaching units to reflect best practices.
  • Support the creation of assessment materials, including questions and mark schemes.
  • Implement the school's merit/demerit system to encourage positive student behavior.
  • Engage in regular discussions with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times, ensuring a structured, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

As a Class Teacher:
  • Maintain a structured and orderly classroom environment, ensuring students are engaged and focused.
  • Supervise students in arranging and maintaining an organized classroom setting.
  • Work closely with year tutors and SEN coordinators to provide necessary support for students with special educational needs.
  • Identify and communicate problem areas or concerns about students to the Guidance & Counseling department and school management.
  • Oversee students' subject choices and provide guidance on academic and pastoral issues as they arise.
  • Proofread and finalize student reports at the end of each term.
  • Develop strong relationships with students, keeping records of important personal details (e.g., birthdays) to foster a supportive classroom environment.

Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in teaching students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • A commitment to professionalism, continuous improvement, and student success.
  • Adherence to the school's values and policies.
