Field Engineering Intern

Job Summary:

The Field Engineer Intern, after completing health and safety training, will learn the fundamentals of FieldCore Turbine and Generator products under the Guidance of experienced Field Engineers/TFAs. This role will assist Service Managers and Field Engineers on variety of engineering projects of varying sizes and scope.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Undergo interactive CD and Web-based training to learn the fundamentals of the Turbines and Generator product lines as well as completing the required environment, health and safety training that is Pre-requisite to visiting customers’ sites. Develop skill in the use of Field Core web-based technical applications. Including Oracle based and Primavera based applications.  Learn the fundamentals of project management, scheduling, resource loading, and cost control to support the FieldCore lead field engineer during major overhauls.  Assist the SM and Field Engineers to plan jobs, expedite shop repair activities and facilitate parts orders critical to outages.  Assist the Service Manager in the research projects, simplification projects, tracking and execution of customer warranty claims on assigned turbine/generator equipment. Research and prepare engineering drawing packages and spare parts lists based on customers’ requests.  Provide remote and on-site support to eastern Canadian job sites to expedite parts, third party suppliers, out-of-area Field Engineers and communications to the FieldCore team at site.  On-site shutdown experience with large Frame size gas turbine and steam turbines, in the capacity of assistant to the Lead Field Engineer/Project Manager. Large rotating equipment maintenance experience.  General Tech/Admin assistance to the Ops team. Receiving customer calls Communicating with Field Engineers Arranging sub contracts and other resources for jobs Expediting short-notice purchasing and shipping for overhaul jobs. Project controls; Cost tracking, purchasing, invoicing and expediting Preparation of Excel spreadsheets and online input to FieldCore PM systems Organizing activities and logistics Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments Travel may be required May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

University degree in course of completion in Engineering (Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Software, Systems). Open to current students who will be returning to their in-class studies upon the completion of the work term.
