About The Role

The Product Designer will own end-to-end product design across merchant onboarding, payments, POS, banking, and lending experiences. This role focuses on translating complex fintech and compliance requirements into intuitive, high-impact user journeys in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product design: discovery → wireframes → high-fidelity UI → handoff
  • Design intuitive experiences for merchant onboarding & KYC flows, POS activation & transaction journeys, merchant app & web dashboards, banking features (accounts, transfers, settlements), merchant lending flows (eligibility, disbursement, repayment)
  • Translate complex fintech, risk, and compliance requirements into simple, usable interfaces
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Risk, and Business teams to ship high-impact features
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and iterate based on real merchant feedback
  • Maintain and evolve FairMoney's design system for consistency across platforms
  • Balance speed vs quality in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment

Requirements

  • 3-6+ years of experience as a Product / UX / UI Designer, preferably in fintech, banking, or complex B2B products
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving ability, complex flow simplification and end-to-end ownership (not just visuals)
  • Experience designing mobile-first products (Android focus is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • UX principles, interaction design, and information architecture
    • Design systems & component-based design
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving requirements
  • Ability to explain design decisions clearly to non-design stakeholders
  • Tools: Figma (mandatory), plus familiarity with prototyping & handoff workflows

Mandatory Requirements

  • Experience with POS, payments, lending, or banking products
  • Exposure to African markets or emerging markets
  • Experience working closely with engineering constraints and backend-heavy systems
  • Basic understanding of risk, fraud, or compliance flows in fintech

What Success Looks Like

  • Merchants can onboard faster with fewer errors
  • POS and payment journeys are simpler, clearer, and more reliable
  • Banking and lending experiences feel trustworthy and intuitive
  • Design becomes a product lever, not just a finishing layer

Benefits

  • Private Health Insurance
  • Pension Plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Training & Development
