Seismic is looking for a Network Engineer with strong production experience. Every edge device in the field depends on a stable, encrypted, and resilient connection to the central platform for real-time data transmission, remote management, and alert delivery. This is a hands-on role where you will design and operate the network infrastructure that makes that connection possible across a wide range of field environments with variable coverage and connectivity conditions.

CORE REQUIREMENTS

• WireGuard and mesh networking. Strong practical experience with WireGuard-based mesh networks. Familiarity with NetBird or Tailscale for managing large device meshes.

• Cellular and SIM management. Experience configuring and managing SIM-based connectivity including APN configuration, multi-network failover, and private APNs for enterprise deployments.

• Linux networking. Strong command of Linux networking including iptables, ip route, netplan, network namespaces, and interface management.

• VPN and tunnelling. Experience deploying and operating VPNs in production including WireGuard, OpenVPN, or IPSec.

• Network security. Understanding of firewalls, traffic inspection, network segmentation, and end-to-end encryption. Security is part of your network design from the start.

• Network monitoring. Experience with network performance monitoring, alerting on connectivity failures, and diagnosing issues across distributed remote devices using telemetry and logs.

• VLAN configuration. Experience working with operators or ISPs to configure dedicated network segments for specific traffic types.

• Remote diagnostics. You are comfortable diagnosing network issues across a large number of remote devices without physical access.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

You will design and operate the WireGuard mesh network connecting edge devices in the field to the central platform, manage cellular backhaul and multi-network failover configurations across the fleet, and implement the network security controls that protect all data in transit. You will also work with operators on VLAN provisioning for production site deployments and build network health monitoring into the central observability stack.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with satellite or multi-bearer connectivity solutions for remote or rural deployments.

• Familiarity with network behaviour in areas with poor or intermittent mobile coverage.

• Experience with IoT device connectivity at scale.

• • Familiarity with LoRaWAN or other low-power wide-area network protocols.
