We are Honcho Nigeria Limited, a company with various interests but with a technology and marketing focus. This is a work-from-home job for an automation tester (SDET); also get paid once a month.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Playwright and JavaScript.
- Perform API testing using Postman, including validating requests, responses, authentication, business logic, and API workflows.
- Execute manual testing for new features, enhancements, bug fixes, regression testing, smoke testing, integration testing, and end-to-end application workflows.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on business and technical requirements.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar tools.
- Verify defect fixes and perform regression testing before production deployments.
- Validate REST APIs, JSON responses, database records, and system integrations to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, product managers, business analysts, and QA team members throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Monitor automation execution results, analyze failures, and communicate quality risks to stakeholders.
- Contribute to improving automation frameworks, testing processes, QA standards, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test cases, automation scripts, execution reports, and quality metrics.
- Support production issue investigations, release validation, root cause analysis, and post-deployment testing when required.
- Work effectively with U.S.-based teams across multiple time zones while meeting agreed delivery timelines.
- Ensure software releases meet functional, usability, integration, and quality standards before deployment.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the software space.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in software quality assurance.
- Proven experience as a QA Analyst, Software Tester, or QA Engineer supporting web-based and API-driven applications.
- Need to own a laptop with access to reliable internet.
- The ability to be a team player.
- Experience working with teams across multiple time zones.
- Excellent fluency in the English language.
- Excellent coder in JavaScript.
- Practical experience with Playwright for browser automation, including writing or maintaining automated tests for key application workflows.
- Strong working knowledge of Postman for API testing, including collections, environments, authorization, variables, assertions, and response validation.
- Experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum practices, QA methodologies, test design techniques, and release validation processes.
- Hands-on experience creating and executing manual and automation test cases, regression suites, smoke tests, integration tests, and end-to-end test scenarios.
- Ability to test REST APIs, validate JSON responses, confirm error handling, and compare API behavior against business requirements.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and the ability to run SQL queries to support testing, troubleshooting, and data validation.
- Ability to analyze defects, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and follow issues through resolution.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, organization, documentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying aligned with U.S.-based teams and delivery schedules.
Required Equipment and Work Setup:
- A reliable laptop or desktop computer capable of running multiple applications at the same time
- To successfully support a U.S.-based role from Nigeria, the candidate must have a reliable remote work setup and the discipline to consistently work across time zones.
- High-speed, stable internet suitable for video calls, remote collaboration, cloud-based tools, test environments, and large file transfers.
- Backup internet access, such as a second ISP, mobile hotspot, MiFi, or router backup, to reduce downtime during outages.
- Reliable backup power, such as an inverter, UPS, generator, or solar backup, sufficient to support work during power interruptions.
- A quiet, professional workspace suitable for video meetings, focused testing, documentation, and collaboration with U.S.-based teams.
- A working webcam, headset, and microphone suitable for daily standups, sprint ceremonies, troubleshooting sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Ability to securely access company systems using VPN, MFA, password managers, and other required security tools.
Time Zone and Availability Expectations:
- Ability to work consistently during agreed U.S. business hours, including overlap with Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific Time as required.
- Willingness to attend meetings, standups, release calls, sprint ceremonies, and troubleshooting sessions that may occur outside standard Nigeria working hours.
- Ability to support early morning, evening, late-night, or weekend testing when required for U.S. releases, production validation, or urgent defects.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and communication discipline when working across time zones.
- Ability to provide timely updates through Slack, Teams, email, Jira, or other collaboration tools without requiring constant supervision.
