Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop integrated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) designs tailored to the operational requirements of industrial buildings.
- Planning for HVAC systems, lighting, fire protection, electrical distribution, and water supply and drainage systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Engineer MEP solutions that prioritize energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational reliability.
- Utilize best practices in system sizing, layout, and equipment selection to reduce energy consumption and ensure long-term system sustainability.
- Produce complete sets of MEP blueprints, specifications, and documentation suitable for construction and regulatory approvals.
- Ensure accuracy and coordination of designs across disciplines to avoid conflicts and maintain project coherence.
- Monitor MEP installations during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and industry standards.
- Provide technical support, resolve implementation challenges, and verify that systems are commissioned and functioning as intended.
- Verify that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs adhere to local and international codes, including safety, fire protection, and environmental regulations.
- Proactively identify potential risks and implement design strategies to mitigate them.
- Coordinate closely with architects, civil and structural engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall building design.
- Participate in design review meetings and contribute to problem-solving across project phases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with specialization in building services or MEP systems.
- Professional certification or licensure is a plus (e.g., LEED accreditation, PMP, PE).
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in MEP design, preferably within industrial or large-scale commercial projects.
- A demonstrated track record of managing design to construction transitions is highly valued.
- Solid understanding of building services engineering, safety regulations, local and international codes (such as ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC), and energy efficiency standards.
- Ability to incorporate these into practical and compliant design solutions.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities related to MEP systems.
- Capable of analyzing system performance issues, proposing improvements, and implementing corrective measures during both design and construction stages.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable presenting technical information to stakeholders and addressing design and site-based challenges proactively.
- Proficient in AutoCAD MEP and Revit for drafting and BIM coordination.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC design software such as HAP, Carrier, or similar tools is essential.
- Familiarity with electrical and plumbing simulation software is advantageous.
