Job Summary

The Landscape and Hardscape Designer is responsible for designing the outdoor spaces of industrial parks, including green areas, pathways, and hardscape elements. This role ensures aesthetic appeal, functionality, and environmental sustainability.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth site analyses that include topography, soil composition, drainage, existing vegetation, and environmental conditions.
  • Assess user requirements, circulation patterns, and functional needs to inform the development of effective and user-centered landscape designs.
  • Create innovative and practical landscape and open space design solutions tailored for industrial environments.
  • Integrate natural and built elements into cohesive plans that enhance visual appeal, promote ecological balance and support site functionality.
  • Prepare detailed design layouts for hardscape components such as internal roads, pedestrian pathways, courtyards, plazas, and recreational zones.
  • Select appropriate paving materials, furnishings, lighting, and structural features that support durability, usability, and aesthetic consistency.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to ensure landscape and hardscape elements are executed according to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide input on material selection, site preparation, and installation techniques, and resolve on-site design challenges as they arise.
  • Incorporate environmentally responsible design principles into all projects, including native planting, efficient irrigation, stormwater management, and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Offer expert advice on sustainability, seasonal planting schemes, and eco-friendly material usage to minimize environmental impact.


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Advanced coursework or certifications in sustainable design, horticulture, or construction management will be considered an asset.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in landscape and hardscape design, preferably with a focus on industrial, commercial, or large-scale site development projects.
  • Proven experience in developing detailed construction drawings and managing on-site implementation is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD for drafting, SketchUp for 3D modeling, and GIS tools for spatial analysis and planning.
  • Familiarity with rendering software and BIM tools is an added advantage.
  • Solid understanding of sustainable landscaping methods, including low-impact development (LID), native and adaptive plant selection, and environmentally conscious construction techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills with the ability to work closely with contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Capable of articulating design intent, addressing technical issues, and maintaining project timelines and budgets.
