Founding Head of Technology (Equity-Based)

FleetHive Innovation is building Africa's smart mobility infrastructure through fleet intelligence, vehicle tracking, and operational analytics solutions.
We are seeking a Founding Head of Technology to join our leadership team and take ownership of FleetHive's technology vision, product development, and engineering execution.
This is an opportunity for a technology leader who wants to build from the ground up, influence product direction, and become a key part of a growing mobility technology company.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute FleetHive's technology strategy and roadmap.
- Lead product development across web, mobile, and backend systems.
- Design scalable architecture for FleetHive's platforms.
- Build, manage, and mentor the engineering team.
- Work closely with the CEO and business team to translate ideas into reliable technology solutions.
- Oversee software development processes, quality standards, security, and system performance.
- Evaluate and implement suitable technologies to support company growth.
Ideal Candidate Criteria
Required:
- 5+ years experience in software engineering, product development, or technical leadership.
- Experience building and launching technology products from concept to market.
- Strong understanding of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and software architecture.
- Experience managing developers and coordinating technical projects.
- Ability to write and review code when necessary.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment with changing priorities.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a CTO, Head of Engineering, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager.
- Experience in SaaS, mobility, logistics, IoT, GPS tracking, fleet management, or data-driven platforms.
- Experience building products involving hardware integrations, analytics, or real-time systems.
- Experience recruiting and building engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership beyond a traditional job role.
Compensation:
This is an equity-first leadership opportunity.
- 4% equity ownership in FleetHive Innovation Ltd. (subject to vesting agreement and company terms).
- No fixed salary at the current stage.
- As FleetHive reaches its next growth milestones and expands its operational capacity, the role will transition into a structured executive compensation package.
