Job summary
<p>We are seeking an experienced early years / primary teacher with British curriculum knowledge to deliver engaging learning and support holistic child development. The role blends strong academic instruction with play-based approaches, using phonics and effective assessment to drive pupil progress in a nurturing environment.</p>

Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences aligned with the National Curriculum in England and the EYFS Framework, ensuring strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and overall child development
- Use a balanced approach combining structured teaching with play-based, child-led learning where appropriate
- Deliver systematic phonics instruction to support early reading development across Early Years and primary.
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, ensuring appropriate support and challenge across varying ability levels
- Create a stimulating, inclusive, and well-organised classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and a love for learning
- Integrate African cultural identity, Nigerian heritage, and the school’s CHERIO values into everyday learning experiences
Child Development & Pastoral Care:
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and developmental needs, recognising that strong learning is rooted in overall well-being.
- Observe, assess, and respond to individual learning styles, interests, and developmental stages
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment
Assessment & Reporting:
- Track and document pupil progress using both observation-based assessments (EYFS) and structured assessments (Primary)
- Use assessment data to inform planning and targeted interventions
- Support pupils in meeting key milestones, including early reading benchmarks and phonics development
- Communicate pupil progress effectively with parents through reports and consultations
Safeguarding & Wellbeing:
- Maintain a strong safeguarding culture and report concerns in line with school policy
- Monitor pupil attendance, wellbeing, and any safeguarding indicators
- Apply the school’s positive behaviour approach to support emotional regulation and respectful behaviour

Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience.
- A minimum of a degree in a related field.
- British curriculum knowledge
- EYFS and/or primary teaching experience
