Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- To provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information to aid management in decision-making;
- To manage all fundraising plans (Debt, Equity, & Mezz) and devising the optimal capital structure for the company;
- To supervise the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing;
- To manage the effective reporting of monthly management information and reports, quarterly financial statements, board information and performance versus the budget;
- To ensure timely and accurate preparation of the company’s financial statements, in line with relevant statutory requirements / International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
- To identify risks and financial implications of projects and initiatives within the company, advise the CEO and Board of Directors accordingly;
- Shall ensure robust planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for the company;
- Shall assist with high-level decisions about policy and strategy;
- Shall oversee the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing / supervise financial reporting and budgeting team;
- To ensure that legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations;
- To identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company;
- Shall review financial reports for ways to reduce costs;
- Shall brainstorm with CEO, CMO, CSO , CAO and COO to develop the company’s strategic plan;
- To develop and implement Operational Plans, ensuring ELP’s strategic objectives are well
- understood and executed by all staff members;
- To monitor and review Operational KPIs to ensure ELP’s strategic objectives are met;
- Shall manage the company’s financial planning;
- Shall analyze and manage the organization’s liabilities and investments;
- To plan, implement and manage investment strategies;
- Shall track and ensure cash flow is appropriate and sustainable;
- To supervise finance personnel;
- Shall prepare and present forecasting reports;
- To ensure compliance with legal requirements and regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements;
- To work together with the Chief Operating Officer in developing, implementing, and managing annual budgets.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar relevant discipline and data analysis / MBA;
- Minimum of Ten (10) years post-qualification experience of which at least Five (5) years must be at management level;
- Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in-depth understanding of finance best practices, international and Nigerian financial and accounting reporting standards;
- knowledge of the Agribusiness industry including regulations, legislations and understanding of trends and developments that might impact on financing or accounting for operations within the industry;
- Must possess knowledge of IFRS.
- Certifications
- Relevant professional accounting / finance certification e.g. ACA, ICAN /ACCA, CIMA, CFA.
Skills & Experience
- Must have strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow management, corporate finance & budgeting;
- Must have experience with corporate governance;
- Shall possess proven negotiating skills;
- Must possess sound knowledge of the agribusiness sector in Nigeria;
- Shall possess Advanced Microsoft Excel and Financial Modelling skills;
- Must have an understanding of the relevant regulatory environment;
- Must have clear understanding of the professional, ethical, legal and industrial responsibilities relevant to the position;
- Shall possess the ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate;
- Shall possess excellent knowledge of corporate financial law;
- Hands-on experience with risk management;
- Hands-on experience with financial management software;
- Must have excellent time-management and organizational skills;
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
- Must be a problem solver and critical thinker;
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and a good team player;
Others
- Must be legally able to work in Nigeria;
- Must be a member of a professional body;
- Should be ready to travel across the States on a regular basis.
