Role: Associate Security Architect (Contract · Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking an early-career Associate Security Architect to join our cybersecurity team supporting commercial organizations across multiple industries.
This role is designed for recent graduates or junior cybersecurity professionals who have strong foundational knowledge and are looking to grow into a full Security Architect role.
You will work closely with senior Security Architects and engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to real client environments, architecture reviews, and secure system design.
This is a remote, contract-based role with flexible engagement based on active projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the design and review of secure systems, applications, and cloud environments
• Assist with threat modeling and basic security risk assessments
• Help document security architectures, controls, and design decisions
• Review system designs to identify potential security gaps
• Support implementation of security controls across infrastructure and applications
• Work with SOC, engineering, and compliance teams on client engagements
• Participate in security assessments, audits, and remediation activities
• Learn industry best practices for secure architecture and design

Required Qualifications
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure system design
• Familiarity with common cyber threats and defensive controls
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) through coursework, labs, or projects
• Basic knowledge of networking and operating systems
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Strong willingness to learn and take guidance
• Willingness to learn and grow under mentorship from senior architects
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience
• Relevant coursework, labs, internships, or personal projects are acceptable substitutes for formal work experience
Technical Skills & Knowledge
• Cloud security fundamentals (IAM basics, encryption concepts, security groups)
• Application security awareness (OWASP Top 10 familiarity)
• Network security basics (firewalls, segmentation concepts, VPN fundamentals)
• Identity and access control concepts (least privilege, MFA, RBAC)
• Security documentation and diagramming skills (or willingness to learn)
Nice to Have
• Internship or entry-level experience in cybersecurity or IT
• Exposure to security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, CSPM)
• Awareness of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS)
• Entry-level certifications (Security+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, CCNA)
• Personal labs, GitHub projects, or capture-the-flag participation
