Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Formulation Specialist with expertise in the chemical formulation of skincare products, specifically focusing on natural and Shea butter-based formulations. The ideal candidate will lead the formulation, testing, and refinement of our skincare butter products to ensure they meet safety.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Product Formulation & Development
- Develop and optimize skin butter formulations using shea butter as the core ingredient.
- Formulate products such as body butter, balms, creams, and emulsions tailored for various skin types.
- Incorporate natural oils, botanical extracts, active ingredients, and preservatives within safe and effective concentration limits.
Ingredient Research & Selection
- Evaluate and source high-quality raw materials, focusing on natural and sustainable ingredients.
- Ensure all ingredients comply with local and international cosmetic regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU, COSMOS).
Stability & Compatibility Testing
- Conduct stability, microbiological, and compatibility testing to assess shelf-life and product safety.
- Analyze and adjust formulations based on physical, chemical, and sensory test results.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and process documentation.
- Prepare necessary documentation for regulatory compliance, safety assessments, and product registrations.
Collaboration & Innovation
- Work closely with marketing, branding, and production teams to translate customer needs into innovative products.
- Keep up with industry trends, consumer preferences, and new ingredient technologies in natural skincare.
- Quality Control and Production Support
- Assist the production team in scaling up lab-tested formulations for manufacturing.
- Monitor quality assurance processes during production batches to ensure consistency.
Requirements:
- Degree in Cosmetic Science Chemistry Biochemistry or a related field.
- Proven experience in skincare or cosmetic formulation preferably in a natural product company.
- Deep understanding of the properties and applications of shea butter and other natural emollients.
- Familiarity with preservative systems pH balancing and product stability.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
