Formulation Specialist

Responsibilities:

Product Formulation & Development

• Develop and optimize skin butter formulations using shea butter as the core ingredient.
• Formulate products such as body butter, balms, creams, and emulsions tailored for various skin types.
• Incorporate natural oils, botanical extracts, active ingredients, and preservatives within safe and effective concentration limits.

Ingredient Research & Selection

• Evaluate and source high-quality raw materials, focusing on natural and sustainable ingredients.
• Ensure all ingredients comply with local and international cosmetic regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU, COSMOS).

Stability & Compatibility Testing

• Conduct stability, microbiological, and compatibility testing to assess shelf-life and product safety.
• Analyze and adjust formulations based on physical, chemical, and sensory test results.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and process documentation.
• Prepare necessary documentation for regulatory compliance, safety assessments, and product registrations.

Collaboration & Innovation

• Work closely with marketing, branding, and production teams to translate customer needs into innovative products.
• Keep up with industry trends, consumer preferences, and new ingredient technologies in natural skincare.
• Quality Control and Production Support
• Assist the production team in scaling up lab-tested formulations for manufacturing.
• Monitor quality assurance processes during production batches to ensure consistency.

Requirements:

• Degree in Cosmetic Science Chemistry Biochemistry or a related field.
• Proven experience in skincare or cosmetic formulation preferably in a natural product company.
• Deep understanding of the properties and applications of shea butter and other natural emollients.
• Familiarity with preservative systems pH balancing and product stability.
• Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
