Senior Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and site visits.
• Utilise quantity surveying software and tools.
• Review and verify the accuracy of quantity calculations.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Analyse and evaluate tender documents and bids.
• Prepare cost reports and forecasts.
• Manage and administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
• Prepare and review variations and claims.
• Resolve quantity-related disputes and claims.
• Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction measures.
• Prepare progress payments and final accounts.
• Provide value engineering and value management advice to optimise project costs.
• Identify alternative materials, methods, or designs to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Assess and manage quantity-related risks on construction projects.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in quantity surveying.
• Professional membership in a relevant quantity surveying organisation (e.g. NIQS)
• Strong knowledge of construction industry practices and standards.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  
• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
