As a PLAB Tutor, you’ll deliver live tutorials, design exam-focused lesson plans, write and review question banks and mock exams, and give feedback to learners and take responsibility for specific modules (e.g., OSCE stations, applied clinical reasoning, acute medicine scenarios) and continuously improve them based on learner outcomes and feedback.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured live sessions (OSCE, SBA clinical reasoning, acute scenarios).
- Create and edit exam-style questions, scoring rubrics, and realistic OSCE cases.
- Design and run mock exams with standardised marking and feedback.
- Provide personalised study plans and progress reports for each student.
- Analyse student performance data; iterate on lesson materials and teaching approach.
- Contribute to tutor training, quality standards, and content library improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PLAB format and GMC guidance.
Requirements:
- MBBS/MD (or equivalent) with appropriate clinical registration or relevant clinical experience.
- Recent successful completion of the PLAB examinations.
- Recent successful PLAB coaching experience OR demonstrable track record of teaching medical students/IMGs for clinical exams.
- Excellent spoken English and ability to communicate clinical reasoning clearly and concisely.
- Familiarity with OSCE design and marking, and writing single-best-answer (SBA) questions.
- Comfortable with online teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet), basic video recording, and LMS usage.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with GMC processes, working as an IMG in the UK.
- Instructional design or formal teaching qualification (PGCert, MEd, etc.).
- Video production experience (short-form educational videos).
What Success Looks Like in Six Months:
- Average student PLAB pass rate among your coached cohort and measurable score improvement from first mock to final mock.
- You have built strong relationships with the students you teach, and your sessions are consistently rated highly for clarity, structure, and practical exam relevance.
- Students under your guidance demonstrate measurable improvement in mock exams and practice sessions, with many progressing confidently toward passing the PLAB examination.
- You have taken ownership of at least four teaching modules (such as OSCE preparation or clinical reasoning sessions) and refined it based on student feedback and performance data.
- You are recognised within the team as a dependable and thoughtful educator who contributes ideas that improve how we teach and support our students.

Remuneration: NGN 200,000 – 300,000
