Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the organisation's monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework in line with its strategic objectives and programme requirements
  • Develop appropriate monitoring systems, tools, methodologies, and processes for programmes and projects
  • Establish clear indicators, targets, milestones, and measurement approaches for programme activities
  • Ensure that monitoring and evaluation requirements are incorporated into programme design and implementation
  • Review and continuously improve M&E systems to ensure they remain effective and relevant 
  •  Monitor programme implementation against approved plans, targets, outputs, outcomes, and indicators
  • Conduct regular programme monitoring visits and assessments where required Track programme progress and identify implementation gaps, risks, and areas requiring corrective action
  • Work with programme teams to develop appropriate action plans to address identified gaps
  • Develop and maintain effective systems for programme data collection, storage, management, and reporting
  • Establish data quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability
  • Review and validate data submitted by programme teams and partners
  • Lead research activities designed to generate evidence and insights relevant to the organisation's programmes and strategic priorities
  • Develop research plans, methodologies, tools, and data collection approaches
  • Conduct or coordinate baseline studies, needs assessments, outcome assessments, and other research activities
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative programme data to assess performance and outcomes
  • Develop dashboards, reports, presentations, and other data visualisations to communicate findings effectively
  • Prepare periodic M&E reports for management, donors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Provide interpretation and insights beyond the presentation of raw data
  • Lead and coordinate programme evaluations in accordance with approved evaluation plans
  • Develop evaluation frameworks and methodologies to assess programme effectiveness, relevance, efficiency, sustainability, and impact
  • Support the measurement of short-, medium-, and long-term programme outcomes
  • Promote a culture of evidence-based learning across the organisation
  • Facilitate learning sessions with programme teams to review findings and identify lessons learned
  • Document programme successes, challenges, innovations, and lessons learned
  • Provide M&E inputs into donor proposals, budgets, logframes, theories of change, and programme plans
  • Ensure programme indicators and reporting requirements align with donor expectations
  • Support the preparation of donor reports and programme updates with accurate evidence and data
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the M&E and research team
  • Develop the capacity of programme staff and partners in monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Develop and deliver training on M&E tools, data quality, research methods, and evidence-based programme management
  • Set performance expectations and monitor the effectiveness of M&E team members
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across programme teams


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Research Methods, or a related field
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred
  • 5–8 years' experience in monitoring and evaluation, research, programme management, or a related field, preferably within the NGO, development, humanitarian, or non-profit sector
  • Strong experience developing and implementing M&E frameworks and systems
  • Experience with programme monitoring, evaluation, and research 


Location: Warri
Remuneration: NGN 850,000-1,500,000 monthly
