An inventory officer oversees an organization's stock levels, ensuring a steady supply of goods while minimizing shortages and overstock. They track stock movements, conduct physical audits, and maintain precise database records to optimize supply chain operations and prevent financial loss.

- Stock Monitoring & Control: Track daily stock levels, ensure optimal inventory availability, and trigger replenishment alerts to procurement teams to prevent stockouts.
- Receiving & Inspection: Oversee incoming shipments by verifying delivered quantities, inspecting goods for damage, and checking them against purchase orders or delivery notes.
- Record Keeping: Update and maintain comprehensive inventory databases or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to reflect all stock transactions, adjustments, and movements.
- Audits & Reconciliation: Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock audits. Identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and reconcile physical counts with recorded figures.
- Storage & Organization: Label and tag inventory correctly, and store items in designated warehouse areas to maximize space efficiency and accessibility.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit routine reports (e.g., aging analysis, stock variance, turnover ratios) to management to assess inventory performance.
- Compliance & Loss Prevention: Ensure storage facilities are secure and enforce corporate inventory and loss prevention policies to minimize shrinkage, theft, or obsolescence.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or a relevant field.
- Experience: 2–3 years of proven experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with inventory management software, WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong mathematical skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to analyze forecasting trends.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with logistics, procurement, and the warehouse.
