Tvro & Dstv Technician

Responsibilities:

• Install, align, commission and maintain TVRO and DSTV satellite dishes/antenna systems.
• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot DSTV decoders, receivers and smart cards.
• Diagnose and resolve satellite signal, picture quality and reception problems.
• Carry out satellite dish alignment and signal optimization using satellite signal meter/tracker.
• Troubleshoot and maintain LNBs, coaxial cables, splitters, combiners, amplifiers and modulators.
• Carry out cabling and re-cabling of TVRO/DSTV distribution networks.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on installed systems.
• Validate and maintain records of DSTV decoders and smart cards.
• Support DSTV subscription renewal and ensure continuity of service.
• Respond to fault tickets and resolve onsite issues within the required 24-hour SLA.
• Prepare service reports and test results and maintain up-to-date system/as-built documentation.
• Support TVRO system upgrades and new installations.
• Provide technical support for Geo-Stabilised TVRO systems on FPSO/FSO vessels when required.

Requirements:

• A minimum of an OND in electronics, electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of strong hands-on experience in TVRO, DSTV and satellite TV systems.
• Demonstrable practical experience with DSTV decoders and smart cards, satellite dishes and antenna alignment, LNBs, satellite signal meters, RG6/RG8 coaxial cabling, splitters and combiners, amplifiers and modulators
• Satellite signal troubleshooting and optimisation
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and restore TVRO/DSTV services.
• Experience in commercial, industrial or oil and gas environments is an advantage.
• Offshore experience/FPSO/FSO experience is an added advantage.
• BOSIET/FOET, OSP and relevant safety certifications will be an advantage for offshore assignments.

Important: 

• This is a strictly hands-on onsite technical position.
• We are looking for technicians who can physically install, align, test, troubleshoot and maintain TVRO/DSTV systems themselves.
• Candidates whose experience is limited to general IT support, networking, fibre optics, GSM, CCTV or general electrical works without substantial hands-on TVRO/DSTV experience will not be considered.
• Candidates must be willing to be stationed at the assigned location and available to respond to technical faults as required.
