MEP Project Engineer
Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and technically competent MEP Engineer to support the design, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and energy projects. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in MEP engineering, be proficient in AutoCAD, and possess strong knowledge of MEP design, BOQ preparation, and project execution. This role combines office-based engineering design with site supervision and client engagement, supporting projects from design and estimation through installation, commissioning, and final handover.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Prepare, review, and modify MEP designs, working drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material take-offs, specifications, and project estimates.
- Coordinate MEP and energy projects from design through execution, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
- Supervise site installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support procurement activities by reviewing technical specifications and material requirements.
- Prepare project reports, documentation, and engineering records.
- Assist with preventive maintenance projects, power and energy audits, and other engineering assignments as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, codes, and company procedures.
- A minimum of an HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in MEP Engineering or Building Services.
- Hands-on experience in MEP design, BOQ preparation, estimation, and site supervision.
- Experience coordinating projects from design through completion is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
- Ability to produce and interpret MEP drawings independently.
- Good understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy systems.
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material take-offs.
- Knowledge of Revit MEP, DIALux, or other MEP design software is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage clients professionally.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- COREN registration or active registration towards COREN is an added advantage
- A valid driver's licence is an added advantage.
- Candidates residing within or close to Ogudu, Lagos will be given preference.
