General Manager/Project Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Construction & Interior Design Project Manager / General Manager to plan and oversee the specific project or a wide range of construction and renovation projects from start to finish. The candidate will organize and oversee construction and renovation procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. The candidate must be well versed in different construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The candidate must possess an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The candidate will ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaboratively in a team environment to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Responsible for executing strategic initiatives of the company, achieving the operational goals, overseeing performance management of the company, ensure operational and business development objectives are achieved. Develop and Sustain an environment of high performance in the organization managing diverse teams. Developing and sustaining key relationships to enhance business objectives and growth. Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities include (but is not limited to):

  • Collaborate with engineers, interior designers, architects, etc. to determine the specifications of the project
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all construction and renovation operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, consultants to determine and define the scope of work and deliverables.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to achieve profitable agreements.
  • Obtain permits, approvals, licenses, and other regulatory prerequisites from appropriate authorities where necessary.
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project
  • Plan all construction/renovation operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities.
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
  • Reporting regularly on progress to the client and stakeholders.
  • Track inventory regularly.
  • Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control, and change order administration
  • Develop/Execute strategic objectives of the company
  • Oversee the operations of the company
  • Ensure HSE Objectives of the company are met
  • Ensure Performance tracking
  • Achieve sales targets set by the company
  • Develop Annual financial budgets with CFO
  • Ensure an Atmosphere of high performance
  • Develop and sustain positive feedback from customers and key stakeholders
  • Develop new product lines and technical partnerships
  • Manage all subsidiary companies in Construction, Design, Fashion, and Events

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science/ Technology, Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, Economics, or other related fields; a foreign Masters’ degree is preferred.
  • Industry-relevant professional certification(s)
  • Must have 5-8 years of experience working in a Construction/ Interior Design Firm/ or Big 5 Consulting firm.
  • Experience in Consulting is an advantage.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material, and project management principles.
  • A high degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions.
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
  • Comfortable reading and understanding construction-related blueprints and drawings.
  • Familiarity with Project Management/Construction software including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work within project construction teams and supervise the work of consultants.
  • Proven capacity to manage two or more projects independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Reasoning ability and strong financial Pro-forma skills.
  • Well-developed oral, written, public speaking, and technical skills.
  • Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and time management skills.
  • A high degree of leadership, independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • 5-8 years’ project and construction management experience.
  • Proven experience as construction manager.
  • Professional experience in real estate development, or related field and demonstrated experience working collaboratively.
  • Knowledgeable in facets of the construction process, including permitting, contractor selection and construction implementation, establishing project budgets, and financial analysis.
  • Graduate of a University with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a related field ( MBA/MSc is a plus)
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel
