Senior Risk Engineer
Job summary
The Senior Risk Engineer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical, operational, and safety risks across projects and operations. The role ensures that risk management strategies, engineering controls, and compliance measures are effectively implemented to protect people, assets, and the organization’s reputation.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Lead risk assessments, hazard identification (HAZID), and hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) for projects and operations
- Develop and implement risk management plans, safety cases, and mitigation strategies
- Review engineering designs, procedures, and operational plans to ensure risk controls are integrated
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, client, and company safety and risk standards
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk reviews on sites and facilities
- Investigate incidents and near-misses and recommend corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance and training on risk and safety management
- Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and stakeholders
- Support insurance, compliance, and business continuity planning activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in risk engineering, HSE, or safety-critical industries (oil & gas, construction, power, or manufacturing preferred)
- Strong knowledge of international standards (ISO 31000, ISO 45001, API, NFPA, or similar)
- Experience with risk assessment tools and methodologies (HAZOP, FMEA, Bow-Tie, QRA)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and risk reporting or management software
