Production and Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities:

• Operate PET pre-form injection molding machines and associated equipment on the production line (moulding, cooling, conveyors, dryers, chillers) safely and efficiently.
• Monitor machine parameters (temperatures, pressures, cycle times, shot weights, cavity counts) and adjust to ensure consistent output, quality, and minimal reject rates.
• Perform preventive maintenance, routine checks, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs on injection machines, moulds, conveyors and auxiliary systems (e.g., dryers, chillers, compressed air).
• Change moulds, set up new cavity moulds, adjust machine settings after mould change-over, and ensure machines are ready for production with minimal downtime.
• Assist in machine start-up, shutdown, and cleaning procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate machine logs, maintenance records, downtime records, and production performance data.
• Work with the maintenance team to escalate major machine faults, coordinate spare parts replacement and ensure breakdowns are resolved quickly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives: suggest and implement machine/process improvements, reduction of scrap, optimization of cycle time, and energy efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety, health and environmental regulations (SHE), maintain housekeeping around machine areas, and promote safe work practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum of an OND, or Trade Test / Technical Certificate for Machine Operator / Junior Maintenance Tech
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience operating injection molding machines (preferably in PET pre-form production) and performing machine maintenance.
• Demonstrable experience on high-speed PET pre-form injection lines (for instance, machines from Milacron, Dakumar, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of machine set-up, mold change-over, alignment, shot weight adjustment, cavity balancing, and cooling robot systems.
• Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, servo drives, PLCs, sensors).
• Ability to read and interpret machine schematics, drawings, maintenance manuals, and production reports.
• Good understanding of injection molding processes (material drying, plasticization, injection, cooling, ejection) and quality control of pre-forms (weight, dimensional consistency, melt quality).
• Experience in preventive maintenance planning and execution, spare parts management, and minimizing downtime.
• Strong safety awareness, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to quality and production targets.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
