Responsibilities:
- Craft, update, and refine playlists tailored to specific moods, genres, moments, and audience segments on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
- Track new releases, rising stars, shifting subcultures, and regional trends by keeping your ear close to the ground.
- Spot fresh talent before everyone else catches on.
- Work with the marketing and social teams to align playlists with campaigns, cultural moments, and content opportunities.
- Monitor playlist performance and adjust strategy based on listener behavior. Which tracks keep people engaged? Which moments lose them? You’ll use this insight to sharpen the flow.
- Maintain consistency in quality and tone across all playlists, ensuring each one feels thought-through and intentional.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Diploma qualification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
- Ability to curate across multiple genres, even the ones most people don’t stumble into often
- A strong instinctive sense of good music (across decades, across cultures, across moods)
- Sharp sequencing sense — knowing when a song should rise, fall, or sit quietly in the background so the next one flows naturally
- Experience crafting playlists for different moods, activities, and environments
- Wide and curious listening habit with real knowledge of uncommon sounds, niche movements, and underground scenes
- Solid understanding of African music culture trends and regional listening habits
