Job summary
A Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy by supporting medication dispensing, inventory management, and patient service while ensuring compliance with professional standards set by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Assisting pharmacists with dispensing and compounding medications.
- Managing inventory and stock levels.
- Supporting patient care through basic medication guidance.
- Maintaining proper documentation and pharmacy records.
- Ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety standards.
- Education: Minimum of SSCE/WAEC. A Pharmacy Technician Certificate or a Diploma in a health-related field is a significant advantage.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in a retail pharmacy or clinical setting.
- Product Knowledge: Basic familiarity with common over-the-counter (OTC) medications and prescription drugs.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy when handling prescriptions and managing inventory to avoid errors.
- Communication Skills: Ability to speak clearly and empathetically with patients and coordinate effectively with the lead pharmacist.
- Numerical Skills: Strong basic math skills for calculating dosages and performing stock counts.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to use basic pharmacy management software or Excel for record-keeping.
