Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer in Ibadan on behalf of our client who will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and upkeep of the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This role involves conducting routine inspections, carrying out preventive maintenance activities, and responding promptly.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Conduct routine inspections of the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure proper functioning.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to minimize breakdowns and extend their operational lifespan.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and minor structural issues within guest rooms, public areas, and service areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments to minimize disruptions to operations and guest experience.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and service schedules for all equipment and facilities.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance, inspections, or major repairs when required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with established safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the condition and performance of equipment and facility systems, recommending repairs, upgrades, or replacements when necessary.
- Ensure all fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency systems, is functional, properly serviced, and regularly inspected.
- Support general facility upkeep by assisting with minor installations, adjustments, and improvements to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Minimum of a BSc.
- Ability to manage multiple facilities and priorities effectively.
- Ability to use hand tools and maintenance equipment
- Problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in varied conditions
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building maintenance systems.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and routine facility inspections.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards relevant to facility maintenance.
- Familiarity with the use and maintenance of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Basic understanding of building infrastructure, utilities, and repair procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical manuals and equipment instructions.
- Knowledge of maintenance reporting and record-keeping practices.
