Job Summary

We are looking to hire a Legal Officer who will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and strategic guidance to the management team. This role serves as the primary legal advisor for the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and industry best practices. The Legal Officer works to mitigate legal risks.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Advise executives and department heads on a wide range of legal matters relevant to the Public and Private Sector, including property acquisition, development, leasing, financing, and dispute resolution
  • Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements such as sales/purchase contracts, leases, joint venture agreements, and construction contracts in compliance with Nigerian laws
  • Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant Nigerian regulations, including obtaining necessary licenses, permits and approvals
  • Monitor changes in Nigerian laws, regulations and industry standards and communicate their implications to management
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and training programs to maintain organizational compliance and mitigate legal risk
  • Serve as the company's representative in interactions with Nigerian regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other industry stakeholders
  • Support the company's corporate governance and entity management activities,



Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in corporate practice as Legal Officer
  • Experience in International laws and policies
  • Further proficiency/professional qualifications
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and drafting complex business agreements
  • Outstanding analytical, research, writing and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex legal matters into practical business advice
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with good commercial acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative and consultative work style, with the ability to build effective partnerships
