Job Summary

The Legal and Business Development Officer combines providing legal counsel with strategic business growth initiatives. Responsibilities include drafting contracts, ensuring legal compliance, and managing litigation, while also identifying new market opportunities, developing marketing strategies, and assisting with high-level business decisions. The role requires strong legal and business acumen to support the company's operations and growth.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Legal:

  • Provide legal advice on various matters, including contracts, compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Manage legal disputes and represent the company in litigation or alternative dispute resolution.
  • Protect the company's intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights, patents).
  • Ensure the company's operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions. 


Business Development:

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities to drive growth.
  • Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and potential partners.
  • Collaborate with management and other teams to implement business strategies.
  • Develop proposals and pitch ideas to potential investors or clients.
  • Analyse financial data to help cut costs and increase revenue. 


Shared:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, operations) on legal and business initiatives.
  • Support senior management with strategic and administrative tasks related to business development and legal matters.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on legal best practices.
  • Manage legal and business development documentation and files. 


Requirements:

  • 2 years post-call to bar
  • Ability to provide legal advice and guidance to the organisation
  • BSc/HND academic qualification
  • Candidates resident in any of the following areas of Abuja would be preferred: Lokogoma, Galadimawa, Gaduwa, Apo-Dutse, Apo Resettlement, Wumba, Durumi, Kaura, Lugbe, Kabusa, Garki, etc


Remuneration: NGN 200,000 - 250,000
