Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to the management team and board of directors on various matters, including contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with Nigerian laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian laws and regulations, including the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks, including conducting investigations and providing recommendations for resolution.
- Collaborate with external lawyers, regulators, and other stakeholders on legal matters affecting the organization.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with Nigerian laws and regulations.
- Provide support and guidance on data protection and privacy matters, ensuring compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
- Participate in negotiations, disputes, and other legal proceedings, representing the organization's interests.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in Nigerian laws and regulations, and advise the organization on their implications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized Nigerian university, with a professional certification (BL) from the Nigerian Law School.
- 4-6 years of experience as a lawyer.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian laws and regulations, including CAMA, SEC regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and good standing with the Bar.
- Experience with contract management, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
