Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with all applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the real estate industry.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor legal policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting real estate and advise management on required adjustments.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and manage complex legal agreements related to property acquisitions, leases, sales, construction, and investments.
  • Provide legal guidance on contract terms to safeguard company interests and minimize legal liabilities.
  • Manage legal disputes, including property disputes and contractual disagreements.
  • Liaise with and oversee external legal counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient resolution of legal matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to management on property development, construction, investment decisions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on legal risks associated with business strategies and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles and best practices.
  • Advise the Board of Directors and senior management on governance matters, ethical standards, and policy compliance.
  • Draft and maintain company bylaws, management policies, and governance frameworks for directors and executives.
  • Conduct regular independent legal and governance audits to assess and improve internal and external practices.
  • Carry out continuous legal risk assessments and prepare reports to support informed board-level decision-making.
  • Lead and manage the legal department, providing mentorship and professional development to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with the company’s vision and values.
  • Engage with government authorities, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and external legal professionals.
  • Represent the company’s legal interests and maintain strong external relationships.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of Masters
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience
